The activity was attended by professionals from the Directorate General itself and members of the VidAAs team, who were able to gain first-hand experience of some of the physical, sensory and functional changes associated with the ageing process.
 

This activity is part of the European NEAR project, an international initiative led by the Government of Navarra and funded by the Interreg Europe programme. The project aims to redesign and consolidate the person-centred social care model through public innovation and the exchange of experiences among different European regions.
 

One of the key moments of the session was the practical exercise, carried out both individually and in groups using the simulator. This tool reproduces certain limitations related to mobility, vision, hearing and physical dexterity, allowing participants to experience situations similar to those that many older people may face in their daily lives.
 

Following the practical phase, an analysis, reflection and group discussion session was held, during which participants shared experiences, lessons learned and perceptions about the importance of designing environments, services and public policies that respond to the needs of an increasingly long-lived society.
 

VidAAs has assessed this first session very positively, as it reinforces the centre’s commitment to social innovation, experimentation and the generation of applied knowledge to promote more inclusive and person-centred public services and policies.
